Hunted by a Jaguar by Felicity Heaton

Hunted by a Jaguar (Eternal Mates #4)Hunted by a Jaguar by Felicity Heaton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was provided with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The story revolves around the Jaguar-descent Kyter, and his quest for avenging his mother's cruel death. He is in pursuit of his demonic father, whom he wants to pay back for his mother's battle and death. He needs to find an artifact to aid his cause. This brings him into the orbit of Iolanthe, an elf, who takes up assignments for finding artifacts from various dimensions. She is on a mission to find the same artifact that Kyter is after. Starting out from opposite sides, they each think they need to win this game, even if it means killing the other. But when Kyter realises that Iolanthe is his destined mate, his demeanour changes, much to Iolanthe's chagrin. Having been by herself for a thousand years, the last thing she wants is to be enslaved by a mate. Do the two admit to their feelings for each other and choose destiny's path, is what the book takes us through.

I was initially apprehensive about this book, as this was the first one that I was reading in the Eternal Mates series. But the author has carved this book out well that the reader can understand the premise and characters fully, without having read the previous ones. The characterisation of Iolanthe was done well and I found her to be an interesting female protagonist - spirited, cheerful, untameable and at the same time, with a lot of contradictions, making her very endearing. I would have loved for the pace of the book to be a tad more brisk.

Overall, this was a nice read and I would definitely recommend this to lovers of paranormal romance.
