The Dangerous HeroThe Dangerous Hero by Linda Barlow
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was provided with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The story revolves Stephen Silkwood, a writer and someone who has strange tastes in deciding and manifesting love. The first woman he ever first tried his violent love on, was someone he could also never get out of his mind. As his path crosses Viola Bennett's once again, he is determined to not mess up his chances this time. Viola is plagued by the past and her complete mistrust of this man who broke her heart, shattered her dreams and completely broke her spirit. Can they both get over their pasts and their mutual wariness and admit to their feelings for each other, is what the book takes us through.

The book is a typical violent romance take on a guy who has it all, and who likes to never hear no for an answer, and a girl with a fragile heart and a cautious approach to life. The pace of the book was brisk enough to be gripping and the characterisation helped the storyline. Stephen's character was a tad predictable, with his steely demeanour and his justifications for his behaviours and actions. Nevertheless, the plot was still engaging and I would recommend this to lovers of romance genres.

My rating for this book: 3 stars

Synopsis

I want it all. Whips and chains. Hearts and kisses.

Viola was the first woman I ever tied up. We had one of those brief but intense summer romances.

OK, so I screwed that up. But now, years later, I've got a second chance.

The thing is, she doesn't trust me. I write novels about a brutal spymaster whose craving for blood and torture is insatiable. Hidden in my home is an authentic medieval dungeon. I'm a connoisseur of finely-wrought leather floggers, silken ropes, the restrictive corset, the binding cuff.

I don't mean to frighten her. But hey, I want it all. Whips and chains. Hearts and kisses. Mastery and submission, pleasure and pain. I'm looking for that special partner--somebody to torment, somebody to love.

The door to my dungeon is open. It is up to her to walk in.
