I was provided with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a deeply moving and impactful book. Donata Joseph bears her life story for all of us to read. She takes us through how she suffered from a long abusive relationship, the reasoning behind her hesitation, the stigma and taboo factors from the family and society, the financial difficulties, and above all, the influence it had on her two teenage daughters and young son. The narrative is gut-wrenching and one is able to empathise with the emotional and physical pain the author went through.
What I admire most about the book is that the author does not whine about all that happened to her. The narrative is factual, although very sorrowful. The author then takes us through how she rebuilt her shattered life and how she decided to act upon it. This is a very powerful book and would touch the core of any reader,
I recommend this book to everyone - victims and non-victims!
